If you do not know, ask the staging boss. We will always let the A riders go first! No need to boost a false EGO by running down B riders. If this is what you like take up Fox hunting. A big plus in split gates is both classes get a chance at the Holeshot!

    SERIES AWARDS AND ELIGIBILITY

  • UPDATED DUE TO ROUND #2 RAINOUT: You must compete in EIGHT (8) of the TWELVE (12) races to be eligble for the series championship in each class of competition.

  • CHANGING CLASS - this has caused some confusion. If you change your ability level in any class you can only take HALF your points. You can only do this in the class you are already entered in I.E.= VINTAGE B TO VINTAGE A OR VICE VERSA. This can only take place up to the half-way point in the series. If you change to a different class, it is a different situation and you take no points. I.E.= VINTAGE B TO EVO B, IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE OTHER RIDERS.

  • HIGH POINT CHAMPION AWARD - This is an honor to receive! The trophy is 6 ft tall! This is given out for the highest total points gathered from all class's entered by one rider. This award can only be won twice. It is a walking trophy.

RACE NUMBERS, NUMBER PLATES AND BACKGROUNDS

  • It is required that each rider have their own pre approved racing numbers for the season (See Sign Up form). Duplicate numbers in any class is a nightmare for scorers! Make sure when you fill out your membership form you get assigned numbers, this is for this season and if you return for the next season your number is saved. If you do not renew membership you loose that number. Temp numbers will be handled by Savannah.

  • Number plate colors and numbers are to be of standard racing size or bigger and bikes will have 3 plates with corresponding numbers matched to the riders entry form. Race numbers must be a minimum of 5 inches tall and clearly readable. This keeps scoring issues to a minimum. "Trick" numbers are hard to read at speed. Any letters are to be put in lower right side of plate (looking at plate) If you want your points, please comply. Colors for Vintage are White background Black numbers Evolution bikes are Yellow backgrounds with Black numbers. Modern and non current bikes need a common color back ground, as of now we have none! Open to suggestions! Electrical tape makes a poor number!

  • CLASS CHAMPIONS are asked to display their #1 plate and also have a large bull's eye on their back for all to shoot for.
  • IF you have to switch bikes in a race for any reason it is the rider's responsibility to notify the scorers before that race begins or you may not be scored. DO NOT HARASS THE SCORE PEOPLE, THEY BITE!

  • It has been a rule for 4 years now that if you ride a modern bike and are a FLVMX member in good standing you WILL also ride a Vintage or Evo bike in another class. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM ASKING THIS, remember this is a Vintage series first.

BIKE INSPECTIONS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT ISSUES

  • Any bike brought to race in an FLVMX event can and will be inspected at random to be Safe to ride and legal for the class it is entered in. FLVMX staff reserve the right to refuse any motorcycle due to safety or non compliance for the class entered. ALL RIDERS will have and wear correct and up to date riding equipment! Helmets will be SNELL approved and in good safe condition. ALL riders will wear real MX boots! No exceptions. ALL YOUTH LESS THAN 18 YEARS OF AGE WILL HAVE AND WEAR A NECK BRACE! NECK NUT - EVS, LEAT, ECT. We are working with several suppliers to give a group discount on these units, if you need assistance ASK!!! Safety in #1.

    RIDER ABILITY LEVEL

  • EXPERT= A             INTERMEDIATE= B             NOVICE=C             D= SANDBAGGER= DIRTBAG!

  • A riders ability/skill level is determined by not only what he/she feels they are but buy their actual ability to ride in a given class. As a rider in FLVMX a panel of your peers and a panel of experts will be the deciding factor. If you dominate a lower class out of the box you will be moved up accordingly, if you feel you are too slow for a class, a request can be made to evaluate your status.

MOTORCYCLE YEAR BREAKDOWN AND CLASS DESCRIPTION

  • VINTAGE: 1974 AND OLDER
    • 7in front fork travel and 4 in rear wheel travel. This is not my idea but the norm for years. There were a lot of bikes in 73-74 that had 5+ in out of the box but do not get me started! I will allow some bikes with small changes to be legal for vintage. Anyone not sure, we have a team of experts to help solve any issues. Box stock Honda CR 125's up to 76 are allowed in Vintage. ALL PARTS AND MODIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL!

  • EVO 1: 1975 - 1977
    • First real production line suspension improvements. Most of these bikes had 9 inches of front fork travel and were the real beginning of the long travel era.

  • EVO 2: 1978 - 1981
    • The true end of the twinshock era as we knew it! True liquid cooling and linkage rear suspension hit the dirt running and history was in the books. This class will be AIRCOOLED - DRUM BRAKES - NO LINKAGE! There were 81 125cc bikes that were liquid cooled AND LINKAGED - THEY WILL BE IN EVO 3!

  • EVO 3
    • These were the years were anything and everything was tried to get more travel, speed and reliability. No one make or model was able to do it all.  I could spend years deciding on how to break this class down, have seen many try.  A lot depends on how many show up of any one year model.  The thing is this, all these bikes are creampuffs compared to vintage bikes no questions asked.  My opinion has always been the rider IS and always will be the main reason a bike wins a race period!  Trying to breakdown all the year modifications on these bikes will never be COMPLETETLY defined in my lifetime, so for now the rules are this – PRODUCTION DRUM REAR BRAKES -LINKAGE- LIQUID COOLING –PRODUCTION FRONT DISC BRAKE ALLOWED. NO REAR DISC BRAKES.  PERIOD PARTS REQUIRED!

  • EVO 4
    • Non Current – 10 YEARS OLD OR OLDER. These bikes transformed on a regular basis getting better and better through out the years. Say what you want but, theses are pretty well equal on today’s Vintage/Evo courses. (MANY FORGET THE TYPE TRACKS WE RACE THESE ON TODAY.)  Before you go off and cry, I will be watching this class to see if it needs further adjustments.  All depends on what shows up! PERIOD PARTS REQUIRED!

  • MODERN SUPPORT
    • CURRENT.    Nuff said for now, wait 2-3 seasons and some one for sure will be screaming a 2004 is a Vintage bike.......................!

  • YOUTH MINI
    • THESE CLASS’S always gets a lot of attention, for it’s the starting ground for many of our young riders. They are our future and they need to be able to have fun, learn the proper lessons of our great sport and with out a ton of stupid regulations and (forgive me now) petty soccer/tee-ball parent mentality of screaming and running all over the track picking up their kid and leaving the competitions kid on the ground! (No joke I have seen it happen)  Be supportive but let them ride! If you have to, close your eyes! And for sure if nothing good can be said then SHUT UP!

  • YOUTH 12-15
    • This year we are limiting the YOUTH 12-15 class to a front wheel size no bigger than 19 inches and engine size no bigger than 100cc 2-stroke and 150cc 4-stroke

  • YOUTH PRO 12-15
    • 85CC UP TO 250CC PERIOD. YOU WILL HAVE TO BE QUALIFIED TO ENTER THIS CLASS! NO BEGINNERS! LAST YEAR WE HAD 15 YEAR OLD KIDS GET 125 CC AND 250CC FULL SIZE BIKES AND WITH MANY STILL ON 65 AND UP CC BIKES IT WAS NOT A GOOD MIX FOR SAFETY! WE WILL ALWAYS KEEP SAFETY NUMBER ONE, AND ALWAYS HAVE A CLASS FOR ANY BIKE THAT SHOWS UP!

  • VINTAGE 100cc
    • 74 AND OLDER
    • This means the bike has to be 100cc (90cc hodies ok) NOT AN 85 CC CROTCH ROCKET CR, HONDA, YZ 8O! GET THE PICTURE? Rear wheel has to be a minimum of 18 in! Front can be 19- 21. All HODAKA's are eligible up to 100cc. I know this class will be dominated at first by hodies, but there are TM's, DT's, MX's, SHERPA-S's, TC's, KE's, and more still out there to be awakened! So fear not, this is for fun, and for some of us to Experiment in science, (HOW TO GET A FATMAN AROUND A TRACK ON A 100CC BIKE WITH OUT BLOWING IT UP).

  • EVOLUTION 100cc
    • UP TO 1977!
    • The bikes started getting crazy so for now it is keep it simple. But to keep it interesting I am allowing modifications such as SLEEVED DOWN CR Honda's, NO MATTER WHAT YEAR, THEY RUN IN EVO 100cc! Other bikes wanting to be sleeved are open for discussion. Depending on what years show up we will determine the gates as needed. For now rider ability is OPEN until it grows enough to split into A-B.
